টমাস হার্ডি, (ইংরেজি Thomas Hardy, ২ জুন ১৮৪০ - ১১ জানুয়ারি ১৯২৮) একজন ইংরেজ সাহিত্যিক। ১৮৪০ সালে পূর্ব ডচেষ্টারশায়ারের হায়ার বকহ্যাম্পটন নামে একটি পল্লিতে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন।রোমান্টিসিজম ঘরানার এই কবি ও ঔপন্যাসিক উইলিয়াম ওয়ার্ডসওয়ার্থ ও চার্লস ডিকেন্স এর দ্বারা অনুপ্রাণিত হয়েছিলেন। ডিকেন্সের মতো তার লেখাও ভিক্টোরিয়ান সোসাইটিতে সমালোচিত হয়েছিল। যদিও হার্ডি তার লেখায় তৎকালিন ক্ষয়িষ্ণু গ্রাম্য সমাজের দিকে বেশি আলোকপাত করেছিলেন। টমাস হার্ডি প্রথম দিকে নিজেকে একজন কবি হিসাবে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করেছিলেন। পরে অবশ্য একজন ঔপন্যাসিক হিসাবেও তিনি ব্যাপক জনপ্রিয়তা পান।টমাস হার্ডির লেখা প্রথম উপন্যাসের নাম ’দ্যা পুওর ম্যান এন্ড দ্যা লেডি’। এটি লেখা শেষ হয় ১৮৬৭ সালে।তার লেখালেখির শুরুটা খুব অল্প বয়সে হলেও ১৮৭০ সালের পূর্বে তার কোন লেখা প্রকাশিত হয়নি।এরপর টমাস হার্ডি লেখেন ডেসপাটে রেমেডিস (১৮৭১) ও আন্ডার দ্যা গ্রিন উড ট্রিজ (১৮৭২), এই দুটি লেখাই বেনামে প্রকাশিত হয়। ১৮৭৩ সালে প্রকাশিত হয় এ পেয়ার অব ব্লু আইজ। ১৮৭৪ সালে প্রকাশিত হয় ফার ফ্রম দ্যা ম্যাডিং ক্রাউড। টেস অব দ্যা ড’আরবারভিলস (১৮৯১), ফার ফ্রম দ্যা ম্যডিং ক্রাউড (১৮৭৪), দ্যা মেয়র অব কাস্টারব্রিজ (১৯৮৬), জুড দ্যা অবসকিউর (১৮৯৫) তার জনপ্রিয় উপন্যাস।
